🔥Fireside Chat:
The other day, I nearly had an accident on my bike Reader
As I was riding, a venomous snake crawled out of the dashboard and stared at me.
Don't get me wrong, I love snakes…
Just not on my handlebars,
staring into my eyes,
while I'm speeding down the middle of a busy road.
I managed to jump off and sort of run alongside the bike as it slowed down, so I wouldn't drop it or get bitten.
The road was busy, so I pulled over to the side.
But the snake had retreated back inside the body of my bike, so I couldn't go anywhere.
So I sat down and meditated on what it might mean…
Was life asking me to slow down?
Was it about my sexual energy?
Was it a blessing from Mama Bali, or a warning sign?
I had a meeting to get to, so once I was done searching for a deeper meaning, I realized I needed a way to lure the snake out so I could get back on the road.
Then it dawned on me:
Misplaced life force leads to accidents.
Unless you slow down and remove the snakes hiding beneath the surface.
See…
- Over-giving and pouring your energy into a relationship where you don't feel met…
- Feeding a business partnership that doesn't feel fair
- Showing up for a friend who only gossips, complains and judges…
- Even staying in a job, a city or a religious path that drains you…
Sooner or later,
life will speak up.
You can ignore a part of life,
but no part of life will ever ignore you.
When you least expect it, you'll be forced to face the snakes hiding in all the wrong places:
- You'll start arguing more and more with your "loved" ones…
- Losing money on bad decisions that could've been avoided…
- Struggling with insomnia and health issues out of nowhere…
All the result of misplaced energy.
Life is always speaking to you.
Sometimes it's a whisper.
Sometimes it's a gut feeling, a tight throat, pressure in your chest, fatigue or back pain.
Sometimes it's a snake inside your bike as you speed down the road.
See…
The more God loves you, the more creative He gets when He wants your attention…
And if you fail (or refuse) to pay attention,
pain will accomplish what God's subtle whispers and gentle nudges couldn't.
And it all comes from a place of Love.
So, after 15 minutes of poking my bike with a stick, I figured that since the snake had come out while I was riding, it would probably come out again if I left the engine running.
I thanked nature for its support and God for the bold reminder, and turned my scooter on. Five minutes later, the engine's vibration drove the snake out, and it slithered off into the nearby bushes.
Paying attention is the antidote to pain and tension.
As I wrote that, I noticed:
Paying-attention / Pain-and-tension.
Whoa!
Anyway…
Check under your bed.
Beside you at the dinner table.
And above all, in the mirror.
And remember:
Everything that's buried grows and sprouts.
That's how nature works.
Everything you disown ends up owning you.
But only always 🙂
With you on the path,
Nico Canon
PS: Letting go of what doesn't serve us isn't about "knowing" someone or something is bad for us.
Smokers know cigarettes are bad for them, and they smoke anyway.
Knowledge alone changes nothing.
Letting go starts with healthy boundaries.
And healthy boundaries come from a deep sense of self-respect.
But most people today lack self-respect, because they grew up with an abusive, weak or absent father.
Our father is our first imprint of respect, power and boundaries.
He's our first "No!" (Mom is a big yes to it all!)
So if you're struggling to transform your life, even though you know in your mind what you need to do, it may come down to unresolved entanglements with the Masculine (a.k.a. the Father Wound).
I'm hosting a workshop at the end of the month on healing this wound.
